  Local Government Act of Japan started 60 years ago and JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM has been started in commemoration. In additon to publication of 1,000yen and 500 yen coin, the stamp sheet of each prefecture is to be published one by one as memorial stamps. YAMAGATA stamp sheet is 34th release and contains five 82yen stamps.
  1. The Mogami River and cherries (Cherries are YAMAGATA regional goodies)
  2. Mt.HAGURO 5 stories Buddhist stupa
  3. KUBO-SAKURA(CHERRY TREE) at ISAZAWA
    4. KUBU-SAKURA is a very old cherry tree in NAGAI city YAMAGATA Prefecture. This is about 1,200 years old, 13.85m tall, 8.1m trunk circumference and has been designated as natural monument.

  4. HAYASHIKE-BUGAKU
    5. HAYASHIKE-BUGAKU is court music and dance handed for generations by HAYASHI Family who plays a role of the chief priest of YATI-HATIMANGU SHRINE and has about 1,200 yeras history. This BUGAKU is regarded as one of 4 major BUGAKU performance in Japan and has been designated as significant intangible folk cultural asset.

  5. SHINJO MATSURI FESTIVAL
    6. SHINJO MATSURI FESTIVAL is a summer festival in SHINJO city YAMAGATA and has 260 years history. Decolated Floats parado is highlight.
