  Local Government Act of Japan started 60 years ago and JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM has been started in commemoration. In additon to publication of 1,000yen and 500 yen coin, the stamp sheet of each prefecture is to be published one by one as memorial stamps. YAMAGUCHI stamp sheet is 39th release and contains five 82yen stamps.
  1. The Kintaikyo Bridge and Akiyoshidai
  2. The Kintaikyo Bridge is one of the most famous wooden bridges in Japan, located in IWAKUNI CITY, YAMAGUCHI Pref. The first bridge was built in 1673 and was destroyed twice by heavy rain. The current bridge was built in 2002. Akiyoshidai is the largest karst plateau in Japan, and has been designated a quasi-national park and Special Natural Monument.
  3. Cityscape of white wall houses and Goldfish shape Japanese lantern
  4. Cityscape of white wall houses has been retained since MUROMACHI era (14th century) in YAMAI city, YAMAGUCHI and this street lasts about 200m. Goldfish shape Japanese lanterns are hung on eaves during "Kingyo Chochin Matsuri (Goldfish lantern summer festival).
  5. Grus monacha
  6. Grus Monacha is one of migratory birds and stays at Japan during winter. Winter home of Grus Monacha has decreased since Meiji era due to development of residential land and Grus Monacha comes to only a few places in late years. Shunan city, YAMAGUCHI is one of winter home of Grus Monacha.
  7. Shoukasonjyuku and Summer orange
  8. Shoukasonjyuku is a private school located in Hagi city, Yamaguchi and was founded by Shoin Yoshida, who was a thinker toward the end of the Edo period. Many famous politicians in the Meiji era were turned out from this private school.
  9. Misuzu Street
  10. Misuzu Street is located in Nagato City and was named after Misuzu Kaneko - children's song songwriter 1903 - 1930. Misuzu Street lasts 1km toward north from senzaki station. Her first house and vestiges of the town spent in her childhood still remain.
